How do I lodge a complaint ?

Click on where it says Submit Complaint. Alternatively, on the colored bar on the left of any page click open the drop-down menu that says Select and Go and select Submit Complaint.

Can I send you mail instead of filling in a form on the site?

You could, but we'd rather you don't. You see, when you use the form all the information drops neatly into our database, all the records being placed in the right fields without any manual intervention. When you mail us a complaint, we have to manually separate the information and paste it in our database. Besides being a painful task, it takes time.

Hence if you want us to help you faster, use the form.

Do I have to reveal my name?

We reserve the right to reveal and display the identity of the complainant, unless the complainant specifically requests us to keep the identity of the complainant in confidence. If you wish that we do not reveal your name to others who can read your complaint, then please indicate so while filling the form.

Check the box where it asks - CONFIDENTIAL?

Can I complain about anything and everything?

Pour your heart out. Only, remember it should be a genuine complaint. And do not use four letter words. We do not upload hate mail to the site. Read our disclaimer.

How much do you charge?

Absolutely nothing.

Then how is this site funded?

We are hoping to notch up enough hits to make people want to advertise on our site. We may perhaps, at a later date, accept contributions from people who think this is a good idea and who wish to help in its upkeep. Any ideas? Write us if you can think your suggestions can help us. Like all start-ups we are fund-starved.

What happens to my complaint ?

We use only the internet to try and address the complaints we receive.

Step1: The first thing we do when we receive a complaint is to figure out which individual or organization should the complaint be redirected to. Our main effort will be in trying to zero in on the right target. Someone that matters, someone willing to listen. For instance, if you happen to complain about a product manufactured by a company situated in a particular country, we shall e-mail copies of your complaint to the customer service department of the company, consumer interest groups and consumer protection forums of that country and if necessary the government ministry or department that is authorized to address such complaints. The complainant will be sent a status report.
Step2: The next step is to follow up on our target till we receive a response. The response will then be forwarded to the complainant.

Do you redirect all the complaints you receive?

We try to. And we are learning in the process. But sometimes the person or the company against whom the complaint is made is not accessible through the internet. For such cases we try and pass on the complaints to an organization (governmental or non-governmental) which is located in the geographical area from where the complaint is received. There are, however, a small percentage of the complaints where we are not able to do anything at all.

Do you guarantee the resolution of my complaint?

We do not. We are not entering into a contract, of any kind, with the complainant. We absolve ourselves of any responsibility, that the complainant may misconstrue to rest with us, towards the resolution of the complaint that the complainant lodges.

Are all the complaints displayed? Do you edit them?

We reserve the right to choose, whether or not, and to reveal and display the contents of the complaint of the complainant, in its entirety, or in an edited or abridged form.

We reserve the right to expunge or omit words and phrases which we think are inappropriate from the contents of the complaint before revealing or displaying it.

We may even choose not display a complaint if we think its contents should not be displayed, without having to attribute a reason or provide an explanation to the complainant.

We may choose to remove a complaint which has already been displayed, whenever we wish to do so, without having to attribute a reason or provide an explanation to the complainant.

How do I view complaints sent by others?

On the colored bar on the left of any page click open the drop-down menu that says Select and Go and select View Complaints.

How do I view my complaint ?

When you had submitted your complaint through a form on the site you were given a number. On every page you will find a black button on the left that say Check Status. All you have to do is enter your number and hit the Go button. Your complaint will be retrieved from the database.

How do I find the status of my complaint ?

Follow the steps given in the previous question. The bar at the top of the pop-up window will display a color representing the status of your complaint. The page will also carry a report on what action has been taken on your complaint and any response we might have received.

I have forgotten my complaint number. How do I find it?

There is a way out.
From the drop-down menu that says Select and Go on the left of any page select View Complaints. When you get to the page select the applicable Category or the Country (from which the complaint has originated). In Keywords, enter a specific word that you had made in your complaint. You might get several records from our database. The complaint number you are looking for will be there. Scan each one till you get to yours.

I have just seen a complaint on your site. I wish to respond to it. How do I do so?

Step 1:
You need the number of the complaint. You can get this number from the complaint you have viewed. If you had submitted the complaint then you must have been allotted a number.

Step 2:
On every page on the site there is a Check Status button on the left. Enter the number in the text box and punch the Go button.

Step 3:
On the page that follows click on the Follow Up button at the top of the page. In the window that pops up you can either add to the complaint if you are the complainant or respond to the complaint if you are the person whom the complaint is addressed to.

What is this Corporate Plan?

We have worked out a scheme for companies who wish to keep in touch with their customer needs and complaints.

What happens, more often than not, is if a customer wants to lodge a complaint against a company, he or she has to go through the retailer-dealer-service-distributor layers before the top management can be reached.

There is also an understandable, though undesirable, tendency for the middle layers to prevent the complaints from reaching the higher echelons.

With this plan we propose to let your customers cut through this formidable multi-layered complexity and get directly to you.

Through Complaintbook.com.

How does it work?

The idea is very simple. Let's assume that you are a manufacturer of a product or a provider of a service and you have a large nationwide or worldwide customer base. Let us say that your company is called PepsiCoke Limited.

Step1: We create a customized web-based form specifically designed to suit your product or the service you provide. This form will reside on our server and can be accessed through the net. Your customers can get to this page by typing http://www.complaintbook.com/pepsicoke in their browser.

Step2: All you have to do is inform your customers to direct all their complaints to this page on the internet. In other words give this URL to your customers. You may print this URL on your product packaging or in the user manual or product catalogue.

Step3: We receive the complaints on your behalf. We categorize and analyze these complaints and present a report to you at regular and predefined intervals of time.

But why Complaintbook.com?

The question that may first strike you is why Complaintbook.com? Your company may very well have a website and you could provide the same service on your own site.

Well there are several good reasons.

If a third-party, ComplaintBook is managing your complaints, your customers will feel that you are pretty serious about your customer needs and problems.

The customer will be convinced that his or her complaints will go straight where it counts since no employee of your company is involved with the collection of complaints.

The vested interests within your company (the middle layers) will not be able to filter these complaints and you truly get to know what your customers want you to know.

We shall cut and dice the complaints that we receive and present you a report with a strategic plan for redressing them.

What are your charges for this service?

This service is free for a limited period of time. If you are convinced (or need more convincing) that this is a good idea, then click here and send us a few details of your company. We shall get in touch with you and let you know our rates.

How do I find other websites that I might use to complain about something?

On the colored bar on the left of any page click open the drop-down menu that says Select and Go and select View Links.
